Welcome Messeage

Hello. It is my sincere pleasure to welcome you to the home page of International Programs (IP), at the University of Missouri, Columbia. I hope that your journey through this portal of MU’s international initiatives will leave you stimulated and informed about our approach to international education, service and collaboration.

In 2001, we embarked on a global approach to diversity and internalization mainly to harmonize with contemporary and future demographic, economic and social trends, felt to be sweeping across the globe. We moved in that direction in order that our students, university personnel and varied constituents might discover and embrace value

propositions based on both self and societal best interests  in being equipped to  manage and  succeed during unprecedented change.

Like many of those institutions designated as a Land-Grant, Research One, AAU, Flagship Universities, the University of Missouri is positioning itself toward the future in step with the pace of change. Our IP initiatives recognize the importance of change and are uniquely designed to help people here at home and around the globe achieve a higher level of understanding and comfort. Indeed, the challenges we are called upon to address are not uniquely confined to the state of Missouri or the United States. As streaming headlines will show, migration, global market forces and unprecedented expectations for inclusion and equity are leading people and industry to transcend borders today, as freely as capital and ideas began to do so some time ago. Needless to say, stress and tension result from the clashing of cultures, ideas and expectations.

We believe the works of IP are designed to help people, organizations and communities move with and through the change with greater understanding, less stress and with more commitment to helping to uplift all of mankind. Please enjoy your visit and communicate with us as we embark upon a bold endeavor.
